ezCater, the marketplace for corporate catering with offices on Arch Street in Boston, announced on Tuesday it has raised $100 million in a Series D funding round led by Wellington Management Company LLP, with participation from existing investors ICONIQ Capital, Insight Venture Partners and others.

The company, which connects businesses to catering companies in their area, will use the capital to extend its market leadership, deepen its products and expand internationally. The Series D brings ezCater’s total funding to $170 million.

While the company declined to share specifics on its international expansion, it said the new funding will help ezCater grow and strengthen its product suite for catering partners.

David Meiselman, CMO at ezCater, added in an email that they're planning on hiring between 200 and 250 additional people this year. Currently, ezCater has nearly 400 employees between its Boston headquarters and the new Denver office the company opened in May.

In January, ezCater announced a $35 million Series D round led by ICONIQ Capital, which was among the participants in the round announced on Tuesday. A multi-family investment firm in California, ICONIQ is said to manage funds for big tech executives like Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter's Jack Dorsey.

As for the leading investor, Wellington Management is an investment firm headquartered in Boston (with offices from London to Tokyo) that's also among the backers of Fuze, Neon Therapeutics and Maine-based Vets First Choice.

In addition to ezCater, New York City-based Insight Venture Partners has a stake in other local companies. Currently, it is the owner of Bullhorn, and was also SmartBear's original lead investor until Francisco Partners acquired a majority stake.

"We’re flattered Wellington Management is joining us as an investor," said Stefania Mallett, co-founder and CEO at ezCater, in a statement. "After six years of at least doubling our revenue annually, we’re the market leader by a considerable margin. Watch for more products for our catering partners, more offerings for our customers, and international expansion too. With this round and these backers, we’re unbeatable."

Founded in 2007, ezCater says it serves 22,743 cities and towns nationwide. In March, the company added Jim Rand, who built the catering business at both Panera and P.F. Chang’s, to its ranks.
