These 30 Boston Startups Raised More Than $339M in October

Boston startup funding in October reached more than $339 million, down from the $418 million that was raised from investors in September.

The largest October rounds came from Infinidat's $95 million, Devoted Health's $62 million, Renew Energy Partners' $40 million and DOTS Technology's $20.4 million.

Here are the 30 startups that raised more than $339 million in October:

• Alyce, an AI-powered corporate gifting platform, raised a $5.3 million round led by Boston Seed Capital, with participation from Founder Collective, General Catalyst, Manifest Investment Partners and Golden Venture Partners.

• Amastan Technologies, which is developing a "microwave-plasma production system," raised a nearly $14 million Series B round, according to BBJ.

• BetterSkills, an employee engagement platform, raised $900,000 out of a $2 million offering, according to a new Form D.

• Clearsurance, which is basically like a Yelp for reviewing insurance carriers, raised a $4 million Series A round that was led by its co-founder and CEO Michael Crowe. Crowe, an insurance industry vet, was joined by West Coast investment firm Davis Capital Partners for the round.

• Cloudzero came out of stealth mode with a $5 million Series A round led by local venture capital firms Matrix Partners and Underscore.VC to build out its site reliability management platform for cloud computing, and open its Boston headquarters.

• Devoted Health raised nearly $62 million from investors, Xconomy reported. The healthcare company was created by former athenahealth leaders.

• DOTS Technology raised a $20.4 million round, according to a Form D. The stealthy startup is developing rapid diagnostics technology.

• Drivn, a coaching software platform based in Natick, raised $520,000 out of a $1 million equity offering, according to a new Form D.

• Edmit, a new edtech startup, raised $450,000 in an equity offering, according to a new Form D.

• Groupize, a provider of meeting software, closed an additional $3.25 million for its Series A round, which was led by Thayer Ventures. The round also received participation from new investors Wayfare Ventures, NTX Venture Fund and Ace Fund, and existing investors Golden Seeds and Launchpad Ventures.

• Icebrkr, which is developing an AI-powered dating app, raised $43,000 in a securities offering, according to a new Form D.  

• Indico, a machine learning startup, raised a $1.5 million convertible debt note led by Boston venture capital firm .406 Ventures to serve as bridge financing for the company’s next funding round.

• Infinidat, the Waltham-based data storage startup founded by EMC veteran Moshe Yanai, raised a $95 million Series C round led by a Goldman Sachs investment group. The latest round brings the company’s valuation to $1.6B, Infinidat said.

• JazzHR, an HR software startup with offices in Pittsburgh and Boston, raised a $6.6 million round led by Volition Capital. Other investors included Birchmere Ventures and Rincon Venture Partners.

• New Life Solution, which operates under the name meQuilibrium, raised an $8.2 million round, according to a Form D filing.

• Notarize, the remote notary service led by Pat Kinsel, landed a strategic investment from Second Century Ventures, the strategic investment arm of the National Association of Realtors.

• Peach Underneath, a Waltham-based ecommerce startup, raised over $3 million in an equity offering, according to a new Form D. The company is looking to raise as much as $4.5 million for the round.

• Podimetrics, a startup developing tech focused on the early detection and preventing of diabetic foot ulcers, raised a $1 million round, according to a new Form D.

• Portal Instruments, a Cambridge-based startup that has developed a needle-free drug delivery system, raised a $5.9 million round, according to a new Form D. The startup was among two MIT-born technologies to win an award at SXSW this year.

• Renew Energy Partners, a Boston firm that provides turnkey financing and execution of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, raised $40 million (including from Newton-based Proficio Capital) to put into action retrofitting buildings. The company has $11 million earmarked for construction-ready projects in MA and NY.

• SidelineSwap, a Boston-based online sports gear marketplace, raised a $2 million seed extension funding round backed by former Etsy CEO Maria Thomas. Other investors include Global Founders Capital, Haystack Partners, Fullstack Sports Ventures and The Players' Impact, the latter of which is a group of Olympians and professional athletes.

• SiteSpect raised $5.3 million in an equity and options offering, according to a new Form D.

• Spiro Technologies, a proactive CRM provider based in Boston, announced a $3 million seed round led by Geekdom Fund with participation by MassVentures, Hyperplane Venture Capital and New Harbour Partners. As part of the funding announcement, MassVentures VP Jennifer Jordan will join the Spiro board of directors.

• TankUtility, a provider of propane tank monitoring software, raised $575,000 out of a $1 million offering, according to a new Form D.

• TileDB, a startup created in collaboration between Intel Labs and MIT, raised a $1 million seed round led by Intel Capital and Nexus Venture Partners.

• Trilio Data, a provider of data protection, backup and recovery solutions for OpenStack, raised a $5 million Series A round led by .406 Ventures. The company will use the funding to expand its sales, engineering, and marketing teams, and increase channel support.

• Ultimaker, a 3D printing startup with its U.S. HQ in Cambridge, received a "significant" investment of an undisclosed amount from private equity firm NP million Capital. A press release says NP million is now a majority shareholder of the company.

• Veo Robotics, a human-robot collaboration platform, raised a $12 million Series A funding round led by GV (formerly known as Google Ventures) and Lux Capital.

• Vestmark, which provides a wealth management platform to financial institutions, raised $11.6 million in an equity offering, according to a new Form D.  

• XL Hybrids, a maker of hybrid electric powertrains for vehicles, raised $22 million Series D from Ikea Group, Constellation Technology Ventures and other investors, Xconomy reported.
