Cambridge-based iZotope makes audio production tools that are used by a number of big players in the music world, including the Prince of Dubstep himself, Skrillex — and to further change the way musicians create, record and collaborate, it has raised a $2.5 million Series B round led by ABS Capital Partners, along with a $5 million loan from Comerica Bank.
The new funding will be used to grow the company and accelerate the launch of what the company calls a "groundbreaking new offering," which will tap "into the potential of modern technologies to enhance the creative experience, providing musicians with unique hardware, mobile and cloud-enabled features not currently available in the market."
"iZotope has proven its value to the market with its longstanding history of re-imagining traditional studio tools,” Laura Witt, general partner at ABS Capital Partners, said in a statement. "We are pleased to continue to support the company’s strong growth and look forward to seeing both existing and new customers embrace iZotope’s innovative product offerings."
iZotope currently provides software tools for audio creation, repair, mixing and mastering. That includes its Emmy Award-winning RX audio editor and its Ozone mastering tools, which Skrillex has previously said he uses.
