The 'Expedia of Solar' Is Out Raising a $2M Round

After Boston cleantech startup EnergySage announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with the city of Cambridge last month, the so-called "Expedia of Solar" disclosed it's in the middle of raising a $2 million round.

EnergySage is an online marketplace that lets homeowners and property owners compare prices of different solar panel installers, letting them find the most affordable option. Its new partnership with Cambridge, announced last month, was expected to give the startup more exposure to potential customers.

The startup filed a Form D on Tuesday showing that it has raised a little over $1 million of a $2 million offering that includes equity, and the first date of sale was listed as May 10. The filing lists 27 investors.

EnergySage has previously raised $4 million, which is split between government grants and private investors like Launchpad Venture Group, The New York Angels and the Clean Energy Venture Group.
