Bounce Imaging (Cambridge)
- Amount: $1 million.
- Investor: Verizon Ventures.
- Details: Bounce Imaging makes low-cost, omnidirectional cameras that can be thrown into rooms, tunnels or other potentially hazardous areas to get real-time, 360-degree video and sensor data for first responders. The startup won $1 million from Verizon Venture, Verizon's venture capital arm, as part of its 2015 Powerful Answers contest, which "was a year-long year-long global challenge to discover and help bring to market technologies that show promise for addressing some of the world's greatest challenges in the emergency response, transportation and Internet of Things categories." Bounce Imaging won the top cash prize for the emergency response category.

Jibo (Boston)
- Amount: $16 million, according to an SEC filing
- Investors: Not disclosed, but San Jose, Calif.-based Fenox Venture Capital last month announced making a new investment (amount undisclosed) into Jibo
- Details: Jibo is being touted as the world's first "social robot for the home," and Fenfox recently said that "this intelligent humanoid is expected to become a central part of every home and lead the emerging social robotics space." The robot is expected to have features including high-resolution cameras that can recognize faces, capture photos and facilitate video calls. The first units were originally slated to ship late 2015 but have since been pushed back to next year. Jibo has now raised about $60 million in total funding, according to a spokeswoman
128 Technology (Burlington)
- Amount: $20 million
- Investors: Not disclosed; related persons to the funding include Bob Hower of G20 Ventures and Advanced Technology Ventures
- Details: As we reported previously, 128 Technology is in stealth mode but has disclosed co-founders including the founders of Acme Packet, Andy Ory and Patrick MeLampy. The BBJ reports that the company is "on a mission to fix the Internet" (via its LinkedIn profile) and is currently hiring for its 26,706-square-foot office in Burlington.

Shearwater International (Boston)
- Amount: $1.1 million in equity
- Investors: 22 undisclosed investors.
- Details: Shearwater is an edtech startup that most recently won a startup competition hosted by Cengage and LearnLaunch. It was also part of the this year's Techstars Boston class. Shearwater provides an online program for schools that helps international students assimilate into American university life by pairing them with mentors who are typically either upperclassmen or alumni. The student and mentor then follow a curriculum created by Shearwater to help the student get ready for university life. Shearwater filed a Form D on Monday showing that it's looking to raise an additional $139,995, which would bring its total fundraise to $1.2 million.

- Amount: $6.75 million Series A
- Investors: Khosla Ventures, Provenance Venture Forum, Tower Capital Partners, Andy Palmer, James Pallotta, Henri Termeer
- Details: Twine Health offers software-as-a-service for health coaching, which aims to enable “risk-bearing organizations” to transition quickly and economically to a model of providing “continuous, whole-person care” (from the typical model of episodic, office-based care).
