Podium Data, a data management software startup based in Lowell, Mass., has raised $2 million in initial funding.
Heading up the round was Boston-area firm CommonAngels Ventures. The money will go toward expanding Podium’s data management product, which was released in August and aims to improve access to “critical” business data, according to the company.
Podium Data’s founders are CEO Paul Barth, a veteran developer of data and analytics technologies, and COO Steve Richards, formerly the CFO of Peoplefluent.
Barth, who holds a PhD in computer science from MIT, previously co-founded consultancy NewVantage Partners. Before that he held positions at firms including Schlumberger, Thinking Machines and Epsilon.
Podium's technology "advances the ability to make complex business data immediately useful to organizations," said James Geshwiler, managing director of CommonAngels Ventures, in a news release.
