Kabaccha Shoes Is Now the Most-Funded Footwear Project in Kickstarter History

Update: The campaign, now closed, ended at $417,835.

Earlier: With mere hours remaining in their Kickstarter campaign, brothers Krishan and Kabeer Arora can safely say they've struck a nerve with their modern take on the classic dress shoe – Kabaccha Shoes is, after all, now the most-funded footwear project in Kickstarter history.

In its last day, the project is hovering around $380,000 pledged, or more than 1,500 percent above its initial goal of $25,000.

“My brother and I are very excited with the results of our Kickstarter campaign and are looking forward to turning Kabaccha into a full lifestyle brand," Krishan told me.

The shoes, which will be sold direct-to-consumer, will retail in the $200 price range, pushing Italian quality and craftsmanship with colorful soles and laces befitting more modern tastes and preferences.

The success of the Kickstarter campaign has allowed the brothers to unlock more colorways, as well as the promise of a women's line to come. Going forward, Krishan said, they plan to expand into the men's clothing and accessories space as well.

As of this writing, the campaign officially ends in 22 hours. To see what all the hype's about, head here.
