Two fundings stand out on this week's (short) list of new deals—and they're at the opposite sides of the spectrum, size-wise.
The first is the $50 million Series C round for next-gen storage tech firm DataGravity, led by Silicon Valley powerhouse Accel Partners. The second is a small investment, but comes from some big names in the local tech scene; Dunwello added new funding from Jeff Seibert and Wayne Chang, founders of Crashlytics and now executives at Twitter, which acquired the Cambridge startup in 2013; HubSpot co-founder/CTO Dharmesh Shah; and Dave Balter, a well-known Boston entrepreneur and investor who just sold his latest company, Smarterer, for $75 million.
A few other bits of funding-related news from this week:
- The new seed round for AI-for-robots startup Neurala, which we told you about last week, it turns out was led by Draper Associates Investments, a firm from prominent West Coast VC Tim Draper
- New York-based dating site Hinge, which is operating in cities including Boston, announced a $12 million Series A
