Here are my top picks for local and national tech stories today.
1. HubSpot pulled it off. The IPO from the much-watched Cambridge inbound marketing pioneer found strong demand from investors Wednesday, and raised $125 million to bankroll the company's expansion plans. Shares under the ticker “HUBS” are scheduled to begin trading Thursday. It's the third IPO for a Boston tech firm in three weeks, following Wayfair and CyberArk. #onaroll
2. Apple is reportedly pushing back plans to debut an iPad with a larger screen. Apple suppliers are apparently tied up making sh*tloads of iPhones.
3. PillPack added $8.75 million for its next-gen online pharmacy. Accel Partners led the round for the New Hampshire- and Somerville-based startup, while Atlas Venture took part. Fred Destin, formerly of Atlas and now at Accel, did the deal for Accel and will join PillPack’s board.
4. Elon Musk says robots may in fact decide to eliminate us and we won’t be able to escape to Mars or anything like that. Ironically there are rumors Musk could unveil a self-driving Tesla on Thursday.
5. Ads are coming soon on Snapchat. Like messages in the app, the ads will disappear on their own.
