A new full-body virtual reality entertainment experience is coming to St. Petersburg at the end of this month.
Sandbox VR opens its first Florida location in St. Pete’s Grand Central district at 2228 Central Ave. on June 27. This will be the 49th location the company has opened since its launch in 2017.
Players can compete in games inspired by the Netflix series “Squid Game,” hunt for treasure in a pirate’s realm or fend off zombies in a haunted town.
Sandbox VR’s immersive experience uses full-body motion capture and high-quality haptics, setting a new standard for VR gaming.
“Florida is, by far, the most frequent request we receive for our next Sandbox VR location. We knew we had to find the right partner and the right location to kick off our presence in The Sunshine State,” said founder and CEO of Sandbox VR Steve Zhao in a statement.
Amit Ahluwalia, president of Solis Entertainment LLC, added, “We can’t wait for the Tampa Bay community to experience the world’s most advanced VR technology right in their backyard.”
The new location includes three private “holodecks,” each accommodating up to six players. Equipped with haptic vests, motion sensors and advanced headsets, players can fully interact with one another.
