After 25 days of voting, Wisconsin Inno’s 2020 Tech Madness competition has been narrowed down from 32 startups from around the state to the final winner.
Curate is this year’s Tech Madness champion, beating out Fiveable by 49 votes in the finals and amassing more than 1,300 votes throughout the entire competition. Voters were choosing startups with one question in mind: Who would you invest in?
Founded in 2016 by Dale and Taralinda Willis, Curate has built a platform for companies and organizations to monitor local government discussions that could impact their work. The startup’s clients include construction and utility companies, who want to be abreast of changing regulations.
“We’re thrilled to win,” said Willis, who said she got out the vote by sharing the competition with her network. “It’s a testament to how hard we work as a team and how people are starting to understand the implications that municipalities have.”
Through Tech Madness, Wisconsin Inno aims to create a friendly competition that highlights some of the exciting tech companies that make up the state’s startup scene. Last year, Madison-based real estate software startup AkitaBox won the inaugural Tech Madness competition.
Curate, also based in Madison, employs 20 people and has raised $2.2 million in venture capital funding, Willis said.
“People have been incredibly supportive of us as a company, not just through Tech Madness, but in all kinds of ways,” she said. “Madison is an especially tight-knit market and I’m thrilled to have the support of the community."
