Plano-based DZS (Nasdaq: DZSI) has appointed Tom Carter to chief customer officer for the Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa, the company announced this week.

Prior to joining DZS, Carter served as vice president of global sales at Maryland-based Ciena/Blue Planet. He also spent time at Canada-based Sandvine and Seattle-based F5.

“Tom has been a respected industry colleague of mine for nearly 15 years, and he brings to DZS an entrepreneurial, customer-first, disruptive and relentless approach to winning that aligns with the DZS culture,” Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of DZS, said in a news release. “Tom is uniquely prepared to accelerate our AEMEA sales at a market-defining inflection point for DZS.”

According to a news release, DSZ acquired the AI-driven software portfolio and a team of experts from California-based ASSIA, Inc. In 2021, the company acquired optical edge pioneer Canada-based Optelian.

“I am thrilled to join the company at such a pivotal time and be part of the world-class senior leadership team [Vogt] has assembled," Carter said in a news release. "I intend to accelerate the current DZS momentum and capitalize on the generational opportunity underway around the world.”

DZS provides services in access, optical and cloud-controlled software solutions.
