KCI Technologies has bought AmChel Communications Inc., a Wylie-based telecommunications firm.

KCI, a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is based out of Maryland but has its corporate offices in San Antonio. The company provides engineering services to companies and governments in different states.

KCI says that the acquisition helps expand its national presence through turnkey, or ready to use, cellular tower installation services. AmChel works with national cellular providers to build and maintain macro and small cell installations. It works with providers such as Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile among other commonly known service providers.

"This acquisition expands our growing footprint in Texas, but more importantly, enhances our ability to better meet the demands of our nation's communications infrastructure network," Arch Noha, vice president of communications infrastructure and discipline manager, said in a press release.

Employees at AmChel will continue to work out of the company's offices in Wylie.

"This partnership provides us with the forward momentum we were looking for to continue providing high service levels for our existing clients while expanding our capabilities in the evolving wireless industry." Ronald Robinson, president and founder of AmChel, said in a news release.

The company also acquired Civil Engineering Consultants in December as previously reported.
