Over the past two years, State of Innovation has established itself as the leading forum for conversations evaluating the key issues and trends facing DC's startup and business communities. This year's event, held on May 3rd at FHI 360, will continue that tradition with an afternoon of featured speakers, panel discussions, workshops and networking. This year’s programming is organized into three distinct panels: Sell and Tell: Marketing and PR, Mo' Money Mo' Growth: Venture Capital and Scaling Growing Companies, and Office Envy: Company Culture that Attracts Talent. Below is a look at our current programming lineup; we'll be revealing more speakers and panelists, so stay tuned for the full list! Mo' Money, Mo' Growth: Venture Capital and Scaling Growing Companies

For this panel, local venture capitalists will explain how they find new companies for investment, what makes a good pitch, and how to effectively bring a startup to scale. Moderator Jonathan Aberman will lead the discussion with Revolution's Ashley Larson, the Small Business Administrations' Head of Investment and Innovation Mark Walsh, Cooley LLP's Mike Lincoln and Middleland Capital's Alex Pessala.

Office Envy: Company  Culture that Attracts Talent

In our final panel, Moderator Sam Cicotello from Social Tables will talk with Aspire's Lily Cua, Opower's Marcella Butler, Everfi's Dominique Taylor , and 2U's Peter Gallagher about what keeps employees happy, and why culture is key to recruiting and companies' success.
