Beta.MN announced Thursday it has appointed Shelisa Demuth to serve as the organization's next executive director beginning Jan. 3.

Tech.MN reports Demuth is joining the Minneapolis-based startup community builder with 10 years of experience consulting for startups. She is joining Beta from Laurel, a PR firm she founded three years ago and grew to eight employees.

Her other experience includes serving as chief of staff at Private Risk Capital Development Advisors, a New York City-based private equity firm; and as director of sales at Minneapolis-based Woodchuck USA.

“Minnesota founders have what it takes to make the Twin Cities a startup capital," Demuth told Tech.MN. "...There’s no organization that’s better positioned to develop national tech leadership by nurturing that relationship. Building on the strong foundation BETA has established, this community of innovators will only continue to gain momentum and grow."

Beta's previous executive director, Casey Shultz, said she can't wait to see Demuth leverage her experience and leadership to grow the organization, including Twin Cities Startup Week.
