OpenStore leased an additional 26,000-square-feet of office space at its Miami headquarters to accommodate dozens of new hires it aims to onboard by the end of the year.
The company now occupies more than 40,000-square feet at The Gateway at Wynwood, a Class A office building in the Wynwood Arts District. OpenStore was the building's first tenant after the city of Miami granted it a temporary certificate of occupancy last December.
OpenStore buys small businesses that operate on Canadian e-commerce website Shopify (NYSE: SHOP). The startup, co-founded by Founders Fund General Partner Keith Rabois, Atomic founder Jack Abraham and former AppNexus president Michael Rubenstein, has raised $105 million in venture capital from investors like General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures.
Rubenstein, who serves as president, previously told the Business Journal that OpenStore aims to have 100 employees in its Miami office by the end of the year. The company is hiring for business, administration and engineering roles, according to its website.
Co-founder Rabois has been one of the loudest voices championing Miami as the next great technology hub, often imploring his 300,000 Twitter followers to make the move to the Magic City.
Other new tenants at The Gateway at Wynwood include Baseline, an investment firm headquartered in Orlando, the Mediterranean-Asian-fusion restaurant Daliyah and Mizu Rooftop Garden.
