Blockchain.com inked a lease for a new office expected to house at least 100 employees.

The London-based cryptocurrency exchange leased a 22,000-square-foot space at Cube Wynwd, a Class A office and retail building at 230 N.W. 24th St. in Miami's Wynwood district. Blockchain.com's office will be located on the seventh and eighth floors of the 100,000-square-foot building, bringing it to full occupancy.

"The speed at which our business is growing matches that of Wynwood and Miami itself, creating the perfect backdrop for us to continue scaling worldwide from our very own Blockchain.com building," said Blockchain.com CEO Peter Smith.

The company expects to add "a few hundred" jobs at its Wynwood office, a representative told Miami Inno. Blockchain.com, which enables people to buy, sell and trade cryptocurrency, moved its U.S. headquarters from New York City to Miami last year as part of an aggressive effort to scale. Since then, it has hired locally and signed on as the title sponsor of the upcoming eMerge Americas conference in April.

Founded in 2011, Blockchain.com is backed by nearly $500 million in venture capital and has more than 500 employees globally. The company reports it has facilitated more than $1 trillion in crypto transactions through its platform.

Danet Linares, Tere Blanca and David Valdez of Blanca Commercial Real Estate, Inc. represented Blockchain.com in the Cube Wynwd lease. JLL’s Eric Groffman, Cameron Tallon and Edward Quinon represented Tricera and LNDMRK Development, the owners of the building.

Once defined by its galleries and eclectic street art, Wynwood has become a top choice for new and relocating technology companies drawn to its vibrant aesthetic and trendy bars and restaurants. Blockchain.com will join businesses like Atomic, OpenStore, Founders Fund and Spotify in the fast-growing neighborhood.

It won't be the first technology company at Cube Wynwd. Security tech startup Transmit and Kushki, a digital payments company, are also among the building's tenants, along with coworking company Spaces and Shaolin Capital Management.

"Blockchain.com [joins] numerous new-to-market companies," said Tricera cofounder and Managing Principal Scott Sherman. "Wynwood will continue to experience intense corporate relocation demand from the technology and finance sectors.”
