Warrendale-based GrayMatter, a multi-faceted industrial tech and analytics consulting firm, announced it entered into a strategic merger with Automation & Control Concepts, a St. Louis-based industrial control systems integrator.

GrayMatter said the merger marked its largest to date, which follows a series of other deals over the past few years.

"We're excited to add ACC to GrayMatter's family of brands as we accelerate our expansion with our latest strategic merger," James Gillespie, CEO and co-founder of GrayMatter, said in a prepared statement. "Engineering expertise is in extremely high demand from our manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive and energy customers, so we strive to find established companies like ACC that have a culture built around accountability, integrity, respect, innovation and teamwork."

The company did not disclose the financial terms of the deal but noted its employee count now stands at about 270 people across the U.S., Canada and India. That's up from the roughly 200 people it had on its payroll this past January following its merger with Columbus, Ohio-based Phantom Technical Services Inc., an automation systems developer.

"This strategic merger expands our service offerings and technical capabilities creating new opportunities for our employees and clients," ACC Principal Mark Hoffman said in a statement.
