GrayMatter, one of Pittsburgh's largest cybersecurity firms, announced it entered into a strategic merger with Portage, Michigan-based HTSE Inc., a process automation and machine control provider that's worked on over 1,000 of such projects for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and manufacturing companies around the world.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
According to a GrayMatter press release, the merger will allow the combined company to meet growing demands from clients for industrial intelligence solutions.
"We’re thrilled to add the strength of HTSE to GrayMatter’s Industrial Intelligence Platform," GrayMatter CEO and Co-Founder James Gillespie said in the release. "They’re a known powerhouse in the pharmaceutical space and in manufacturing overall … Industrial companies have an urgent need to fill talent gaps, leverage advanced analytics and protect plants and remote assets from cyber attacks."
Gillespie said that the merger will result in a larger team of operational technology experts working to solve manufacturers' challenges.
"GrayMatter’s extensive experience in the development and deployment of industry-leading manufacturing intelligence solutions along with HTSE’s expertise in both process and discrete automation will allow for even more innovative and complementary solutions that will greatly benefit clients," HTSE President Brian Mack said in the release. "HTSE could not be more excited to become a part of GrayMatter."
The deal is the latest of several in recent years for GrayMatter, which is based in Warrendale.
In 2020, the company acquired Virginia-based E-Merge Systems, which followed the 2018 acquisition of software and services assets from Colorado-based TMMI.
