Columbus-based private investment firm Rockbridge moved into its new Easton office in November, setting up shop in a space CEO Jim Merkel says matches the company's approach to developing hospitality properties with a unique sense of place.
"We wanted to create an office environment that was consistent with what we do and who we are, ... that felt like a hotel experience, where we have a lot of public space and it is very inviting to come in," Merkel told Columbus Business First earlier this year.
"We had some fun where we were able to celebrate some of the brands that we've created in our office environment, and that gives us the opportunity to share with visitors something – that they can touch and feel a little bit of what we do."
The firm says the innovative approach it took to designing its new 4124 Worth Ave. home make it stand out as the region's coolest office.
Features include public gathering and meeting areas; flexible workstations; conference rooms inspired by Rockbridge properties and "residential-like amenities such as a working fireplace, soft-seating, full bar, one-touch barista beverage station, merchandise display area (and) patio space," a spokesman said in an email.

About Rockbridge: Rockbridge invests in and builds brands in the hospitality and commercial real estate industries. It has delivered hotels in Dallas, New Orleans Nashville and more, and is soon to open The Junto in Columbus. Merkel also launched Makeready, a company that operates what it calls "independent, lifestyle hotels … with innovative spirit and strong restaurant and bar experiences."
About the contest: Throughout the month of March, Columbus Inno will run slideshows of local offices, in the hunt for the region's coolest. At the end of the month, we'll hold a vote to determine our winner.
