NanoSpun Technologies founder and CEO Ohad Bendror is the latest winner of P&G Ventures' ongoing innovation challenge, officials recently announced.

Nanospun Technologies develops disruptive, live-active 3D biological tissues for cosmetics, well-being and health applications, turning biology into engineered solutions. The Los Altos, Calif.-based company offers the first-ever dermal microbiome skincare face masks.

“We look forward to collaborating with Procter & Gamble to create a win-win partnership that will revolutionize the way the industry works with sales on various applications, starting with beauty, but going forward into the medical and health applications, which is critical,” Bendror said at the virtual event July 14.

Applicants work consumer packaged goods in areas where P&G does not currently compete, such as active aging, safe and effective germ protection, and non-toxic home and garden.

Other finalists included San Francisco-based One Skin, represented by co-founder Juliana Carvalho; Los Angeles-based Ready, Set, Food, represented by CEO and co-founder Daniel Zakowski and Yardley, Pa.-based Wellesley Pharmaceuticals, represented by CEO and president David Dill.

All of the competition's finalists will join the alumni from past challenges in P&G Ventures' Alumni Group, and continue to receive training, support and resources from P&G Ventures.

As the winner, Nanospun Technologies was awarded a $10,000 prize and the opportunity to work with P&G Ventures to develop their product.

P&G Ventures was established in 2015 to foster startup innovation. The first challenge was held in January 2019 in conjunction with the annual CES event, an annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association. This is the fifth time its hosted such a challenge.

The panel of judges for the challenge included:

  • Alex Betancourt, vice president, P&G Ventures
  • Anu Duggal, founding partner, Female Founders Fund
  • Mike Jensen, senior vice president of research and development at P&G Ventures
  • Michael Olmstead, chief revenue officer, Plug and Play Tech Center
  • Clarence Wooten, co-founder and general partner, Revitalize Venture Studio

These events have become a key way for P&G Ventures to connect with early-stage brands, businesses and startups in the fast-moving consumer goods space," said Betancourt.
