PostProcess Technologies has a three-pronged go-to-market strategy: to, through and with.

That means the company will sell directly to customers, through distribution partners and with printer manufacturers, according to CEO Jeff Mize.

The company, founded in 2014, builds machines that “clean” parts after they’ve been through additive manufacturing.

“As prototyping volumes have grown and many even lower volume prototypes are seeing the light of day outside of R&D … we see more and more production applications,” he said. “You can’t use manual labor. You need to have an automated process. But you also need to connect that process.”

The business, headquartered at Tri-Main Center in Buffalo, has over 300 customers and more than 600 solutions in the market. Mize expects PostProcess’ gross revenue to double between by 2026 and projects being profitable by Q3 2023.

Along with selling directly to customers, the company uses strategic partnerships.

The business, which employs about 64, announced this fall a distribution partnership with EOS, a supplier of powder bed printers. This way, PostProcess solutions can be bundled with EOS printers.

“Being able to announce a partnership with them is a further accelerant with our growth,” Mize said.

PostProcess also announced last month a partnership with Materialise, an additive manufacturing company that provides software to the industry. The two companies are integrating some of their software platforms to improve the production process, and Materialise has also chosen to use PostProcess' automated and connected gross de-powdering solution.

When it comes to in-house growth, PostProcess in August added about 3,000 square feet to its headquarters, bringing total space to about 21,500 square feet. The expansion gives the company more space for warehousing and shipping and receiving and brings some assembly in-house, which means PostProcess has more control over lead times and engineers get more instantaneous feedback, according to Mize.

The company moved to Tri-Main in 2017 with about 6,000 square feet.

PostProcess closed this year a $4.9 million pre-Series B round of convertible notes, all of which Mize expects will convert to equity once a Series B round closes early next year. The company has also previously raised about $39 million in equity.

The funds will go toward bringing new technologies to market, enhancing existing solutions, expanding into the Asia Pacific additive manufacturing sector and boosting marketing efforts.

“We do have aggressive growth plans, but we want to make sure we can fund those growth plans,” he said.
