November Funding Roundup: 31 Startups Raise More Than $414M

Boston startups had a lot of thanks to give this November with couple of big funding rounds for companies this month.

TILT Holdingsa company that delivers solutions for cannabis companies including infrastructure support, business services, cannabis supply-chain from cultivation to consumption, raised $119 million in an equity round of funding. Aras, which provides an open product lifecycle management software for the enterprise, announced a $70 million. Workable, a Boston startup that makes cloud-based recruiting software, raised $50 million in a Series C round. 24M Technologies, a Cambridge-based maker of a new, semisolid lithium-ion battery, raised $21.8 million in an equity offering, and Boston-based enterprise data storage startup ClearSky Data raised $20 million.

Below are the 31 startups that raised capital in November.

Aras, which provides an open product lifecycle management software for the enterprise, announced a $70 million minority investment led by Goldman Sachs Private Capital Investing group with participation from Silver Lake Kraftwerk. 

Apifia, which makes influencer activation platform for Facebook, raised $2.8 million in an equity offering, according to a Form D notification.

Somerville-based marine data startup, Autonomous Marine Systems raised $482,034 of its $500,000 equity offering, according to a Form D notification.

And Burlington-based Boston Materials raised $1.5 million in an equity, according to another Form D.

Botkeeper, a Boston-based bookkeeping service that currently helps nearly 1K companies, raised an $18 million Series A round. Prominent investors include Greycroft, a VC firm focused on investments in the Internet and mobile markets with offices in New York and Los Angeles, and Gradient Ventures, Google’s AI-focused venture fund.

Cambridge-based CareAcademy that provides training for senior care family caregivers sold $800K of $1.2 million equity funding round, according to a Form D notification. Chaossearch, a Somerville-based startup that claims to be the first log search and analytics built for AWS S3, raised $9 million in a Series A round co-led by .406 Ventures and Glasswing Ventures. Existing investor Stage 1 Ventures also participated in the round.

Boston-based enterprise data storage startup ClearSky Data raised $20 million. The funding, which brings ClearSky’s total investment to nearly $60 million, was led by Lincoln-based Pear Tree Partners and an unnamed strategic investor.

Boston-based edtech startup Cognii, which develops virtual learning assistant technology to provide personalized tutoring to students, has been awarded a National Science Foundation’s grant for $750,000. The money will be used to conduct research and development work on AI-powered scalable edtech.

Cambridge startup Coin Metrics raised $1.5 million in an equity offering, according to a new Form D.

Corvus Insurance, a Boston-based startup that predicts and prevents losses for food and pharma companies, raised $10 million from .406 Ventures and Hudson Structured, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures. It collects data from IoT sensors, videos and social media.

Collectable.com, a Concord, Mass.-based tech startup in the sports memorabilia industry, raised $295,000 in an equity round, according to a fresh Form D. 

DUST Identity launched out of stealth to announce it has secured $2.3 million in seed funding. The leading investor is Kleiner Perkins — the Silicon Valley VC firm that backed many prominent names in the U.S. tech industry, including Amazon, Google and Sun Microsystems.

Boston-based Endorse, which is building an influencer marketing platform for the esports market, raised $225,000, according to another Form D.

Entertainment Data OracleInc., co-founded by Harvard Philosophy Ph.D. and poet, Daniel Nadler and actor Edward Norton, raised $12 million to better measure the effectiveness of TV ads.

Boston-based blockchain startup­ Flipside Crypto raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Coinbase Ventures and Digital Currency Group. Fintech entrepreneur Jeff Parker also joined the round along with existing investors True Ventures, Castle Island and Boston Seed Capital. The company has raised a total of $4.5 million to date.

Quincy-based IntelyCare, a startup that makes workforce management software for health care facilities, raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Leerink Revelation Partners with participation from Longmeadow Capital, previous investor LRVHealth and Bill Mantzoukas, an entrepreneur who has owned and operated a series of skilled nursing facilities. This investment brings IntelyCare’s total funding to $14 million.

Kebotix, a Cambridge-based technology company ushering in the future of new materials discovery, came out of stealth mode with a $5 million seed round led by One Way Ventures. Investors also include Baidu Ventures, an independent venture fund with backing and resources from Baidu, and Boston-based Flybridge Capital Partners. The company filed its Form D back in August this year. Educational fintech startup LearnLux raised $2 million in a seed round from Ashton Kutcher’s investment firm Sound Ventures, Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, Underscore VC and former Wealthfront CEO Adam Nash. LearnLux partners with businesses to sell a "digital financial wellness product."

Influencer marketing startup Mavrck raised another $5.8 million in funding, bringing its total raised to $13.8M. Mavrck has offices in Boston and Denver.

Mayflower, The MIT-born, Boston-based startup that helps couples find the perfect wedding location, raised $495,000, according to a new Form D.

MC10, a Lexington-based wearable health technology company, raised $10 million in an equity offering, according to a new Form D.

Lowell-based NextShift Robotics raised $396,000 in a debt offering, according to a new Form D.

Numerated, a financial technology company offering banks a real-time lending and growth platform, announced it has closed $8M in additional financing—bringing its total funding to $17 million. Current Numerated investors Venrock, FIS and FINTOP Capital led the financing.

Cambridge-based Polis Inc. that makes an app for door-to-door sales raised $2,686,422 in an equity round of funding, according to another Form D notification.

PharmaCCX, a technology exchange platform that enables pharmaceutical companies and payers to more quickly agree on therapy pricing, raised a $3 million seed round. The financing was led by Accel, with participation from Atlantic Labs, Green D Ventures and other investors.

Beverly-based 7AC Technologies, which makes energy-efficient air conditioning systems, sold $8M of its $11 million equity offering, according to a new Form D.

24M Technologies, a Cambridge-based maker of a new, semisolid lithium-ion battery, raised $21.8 million in an equity offering, according to a new Form D.

Workable, a Boston startup that makes cloud-based recruiting software, raised $50 million in a Series C round. The round was led by London-based private equity firm Zouk Capital with participation from existing investors 83North, Balderton, Notion and TriplePoint.

Cambridge-based logistics software provider Wise Systems raised $6.9 million in a new round of equity funding, according to a Form D notification.

Zippity, a Cambridge-based startup that partners with employers to provide on-site car maintenance services to employees, raised $2.6 million in seed funding.
