The Massachusetts Innovation Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, supporting, and recognizing startups in the Northeastern U.S., announced the finalists for its annual Eddie Awards. The Eddie Awards were first launched in 1986 and have since supported over 3,500 startups to succeed. The Eddies are open to Massachusetts-based startups with under 150 employees and a working prototype of a “ground-breaking” product or technology that has yet to receive Series C funding.

Twenty start-ups across six industries are finalists for this year's Eddies. The finalists will participate in a five-month innovation support program that includes mentoring, strategic guidance, and resource connections. The winner of each innovation track will receive a $10 thousand cash award.

The judges pick the Eddies finalists based on six elements: the degree of innovation, user benefits and problem-solving, future and sustainability, team composition, presentation, and message clarity.
