BoxLock, ViZZ Head to Tech Madness Championship Round

After thousands of votes for 32 local startups, Atlanta is down to one final round to find out who will be the Tech Madness Champion.

If you're just now tuning in to our friendly neighborhood startup competition, Tech Madness is a reader-driven bracket competition in the spirit of March Bracket Tournament highlighting some of the local startup scene’s biggest, brightest and most exciting technology companies.

Throughout the month, 32 Atlanta-based startups have been going head-to-head in the bracket, and readers like you are deciding who goes on to the next round.

We've seen underdogs overcome Seed 1 startups and even the close call for a returning champion.

But believe us when we say, there weren't any close calls during the Semi Finals.

ViZZ overtook Layr by a 109 vote lead, while BoxLock claimed the W over KNOW Foods by 139-vote difference.

It's a toss-up as to who will earn the right to call themselves Tech Madness Champs. While BoxLock beat out KNOW Foods from a higher percentage (73.4% of 8,130 votes went to BoxLock while KNOW Foods garnered 26.6% of votes), ViZZ claimed more votes overall during the Semi Finals. ViZZ closed the round with 237 votes, just 19 more votes than BoxLock's total count.

BoxLock, a startup that provides smart padlock devices for home deliveries to thwart porch pirates, is a higher seed competitor. On the other hand, ViZZ, a software company that builds virtual experiences, was the underdog that beat out OnPay, our 2019 Tech Madness runner-up and an easy contender for the finals, to advance to the Semi Finals earlier this week.

Only you can choose the champion.

To determine the outcome of the final matchup, ask yourselves this question: Who would you invest in?

This can be interpreted a number of different ways. Is this about which startup could deliver the highest return? Who you think is the safest bet? Or is it about supporting a project or mission you’re passionate about? How ever you want to interpret that question is up to you. That’s Tech Madness! (And keep in mind that this isn’t a ‘versus’ thing. Just identify who you’re bullish on and pick away. A vote for one company is not a vote against another. But Tech Madness is a friendly competition and one must move on.)

The final round ends on Monday, March 26 at midnight. Vote for the championship round below and be sure to share the bracket with friends and colleagues.
