Micron Biomedical, Inc., an Atlanta-based biopharmaceutical company, announced Steven Damon as the company’s new CEO. Prior to joining Micron, Damon founded 4P Therapeutics and Absorbable Polymers International. He led executive positions at Femasys Inc., Altea Therapeutics, DURECT and Kimberly-Clark Health Care International. Micron is developing dissolvable, microneedle technology for vaccines and therapeutics that initially developed at a lab at Georgia Tech.

Valor Ventures, an Atlanta-based VC firm, announced Gary Peat as the third general partner. Peat joins Valor general partners Lisa Calhoun and Robin Bienfait as the firm prepares to launch its second fund in seed-stage companies in the Southeast. Peat got his start in VC as a partner at Stonehenge Partners in 1996. His first deal was leading a seed round in Atlanta-based SecureTax. He has served as a general partner at Council Capital in Nashville, chief innovation officer at Samsung, and CIO and CISO at Blackberry and AT&T.

The Metro Atlanta Chamber selected Katie Kirkpatrick as the new president and CEO. She will succeed Hala Moddelmog, who announced in February she was stepping down from the position. According to a news release, Kirkpatrick began her new role on June 15. She started at MAC in 2007 and currently serves on the GRACE Commission, a group committed to ending human trafficking in Georgia. She is also the vice-chair for the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District and a past board chair for theInstitute for Georgia Environmental Leadership. She serves as a board member for the Atlanta Track Club.

Andre J. Fernandez, the CFO at Atlanta fintech company NCR Corp. for two years, has resigned, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Fernandez joined NCR in 2018 from CBS Radio and will continue as an advisor to the company until Oct. 1. Timothy C. Oliver will replace Fernandez as CFO, effective July 13. He most recently served as president and CFO at SpringWindow Fashions LLC.

Reveille Software, an Atlanta-based provider of active insight solutions for enterprise information management and enterprise content management content, hired former Infor executive Rick Butgereit as the company’s new executive VP and CMO. Butgereit has more than 30 years of experience in senior executive leadership positions at tech companies building strategic customer and partner business models and relationships. In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of Reveille’s marketing, experience design, brand awareness, communications and create a deeper customer experience.

Acuity Brands, Inc., an Atlanta-based industrial tech company, added Laura O’Shaughnessy to the company’s board of directors. O’Shaughnessy will serve as a board member until the company’s next annual meeting of stockholders. She is the co-founder and CEO of SocialCode, a New York-based technology company that manages digital and social advertising for consumer brands.
