Anish Michael, CEO of coworking company Firmspace, wasn’t deterred by the pandemic pushing everyone out of the office and into their homes.
Instead, he expanded.
Last month, his Austin, Texas-based company moved into its fourth location — a 27,000-square-foot space on the eighth floor of Buckhead’s Sovereign tower at 3344 Peachtree Road. It has other locations in Denver and Houston and plans for a Chicago location in 2021.
Before “social distancing” was even a concept, Michael said Firmspace’s layout was already set up in a way that allowed workers to collaborate in private rooms rather than at shared desk spaces.
“All of our memberships are based on having a private office that ensures our members maintain a healthy social distance,” Michael said.
Firmspace, founded in 2017, markets its locations to “achievement-driven professionals,” Michael said, meaning they design the space to have security and privacy. In Atlanta, mostly financial and legal professionals have taken advantage of the space, he said.
“I think that’s what separates us from the traditional coworker model,” Michael said. “We try to create an environment that gives them the ability to focus on the task at hand in a distraction-free setting.”
As the pandemic continues, Firmspace requires masks worn in common areas and has increased sanitization and have hand sanitizer stations set up in the location.
