When one thinks about a marketing and communications firm, an innovation lab, AI powered robots, 3D printers and genetic engineering probably don't come to mind---but at Moxie headquarters in Atlanta, that's exactly what you'll find in the company's FutureX Lab.

Atlanta Inno toured the Moxie campus at Northyards earlier this week. Home to Moxie, and other Publicis Groupe companies' Atlanta offices, Digitas, Performics and Zenith USA, the 82,000 sq. ft. campus is listed under the National Registry of Historic Places, according to CMO of Moxie Justin Archer.

The campus was originally established by the Southern Railway Company in 1911 as a turntable rail yard, according to the National Registry of Historic Places. A roundhouse, used to assemble and service trains, was added in 1925 and additional surrounding warehouses were later added in the 1950s and 1960s.

"In short, it was a railyard that would repair locomotives," Archer said. "It was turned into a business park in 2002."

Moxie originally chose the space for its open concept full of natural light, Archer said.

"The bright and airy atmosphere is important to us because it promotes collaboration and communication and we also wanted it to feel comfortable for our employees."

Inside the office, employees are surrounded by murals painted by local artists on the walls. The kitchen has a well-stocked snack wall and employees are treated to a free lunch on Fridays and free beer after work hours on Fridays as well. A chiropractor and a masseuse also visit the campus every week---the copay and services are paid for by the company.

"We are dog-friendly which is great because we have many animal lovers at our companies," Archer added.

At Moxie, employees are gearing up for their office Olympics event called "Mayhem!" later this month, Archer said. The entire office gets involved in games of Mario Kart, lip sync battles, human Battleship, relay races and more.

"It’s an amazing event that highlights the great culture at Moxie and our sister companies," he said.
