A Reston cybersecurity and cloud services provider is eyeing national expansion following the acquisition of San Carlos, California-based provider of IT and compliance services.

Neovera Inc., located in the RTC West office complex at 12100 Sunset Hills Road, said its deal to acquire Emagined Security Inc., will allow it to extend its security operations center, which is primarily located on the East Coast, to one that can better handle clients throughout the whole country. The company also said the deal makes it better equipped to address challenges in the "ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape and regulatory requirements" while becoming better tuned to serve clients working in highly regulated industries like the financial, health care and government markets.

Neovera employs 130 people across the country. It did not disclose the financial terms of the deal nor how many Emagined Security employees are expected to join the company.

The acquisition is the latest of several for Neovera following its October 2023 purchase of 10-D Security and its sister company, AppliedCS, both of which are based in Kansas City, Missouri.

"This is a strategic move that builds on other recent acquisitions, strengthening our cybersecurity arsenal to better address the needs of our customers," Neovera CEO Scott Weinberg said in a statement.

Neovera's acquisition also comes amid an uptick of M&A deals involving Greater Washington tech firms in recent weeks. Industry observers say there are more deals to come in large part due to buyers' growing interest in tech-focused national security players or cybersecurity firms, many of which are based in the D.C. region.

The biggest deal struck so far came June 20, when Charlotte, North Carolina's Honeywell announced it was buying Arlington aerospace components manufacturer CAES Systems Holdings LLC from Boston private equity firm Advent International for $1.9 billion in cash.
