Hoonuit, a data management and analytics platform for education providers, has scooped up a Philadelphia-based tech company in its third acquisition of the year.
Tembo specializes in public assessment and accountability reporting. Hoonuit said in a statement that the acquisition will help it build a new "community engagement" solution aimed at helping education agencies showcase their key initiatives to stakeholders. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tembo is used by state and district education agencies to forecast accountability results, build performance rubrics and personalize school profiles and scorecards. The company also enables families to explore schools in their area based on attributes such as academic performance, offerings and transit.
"Data transparency is a fundamental objective at Hoonuit," CEO Paul Hesser said in a release. "Our combined community engagement solution sute ensures that our collective education partners have the tools they need to share key metrics around accountability, school quality and school improvement to their communities and stakeholders."
Little Falls-based Hoonuit was founded in 2000 and was formerly known as Atomic Learning. It works with large school districts across the country in cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, San Diego and Oklahoma City.
The company has made a total of three acquisitions in 2019. In April, it purchased Plano, Texas-based Mizuni, and in June it scooped up Irvine, Calif.-based Decision Insite.
