22 Minnesota Companies to Watch at CES 2018

Nearly two dozen Minnesota companies are trading in snow for sand this week as they head to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a four-day event hosted by the Consumer Technology Association, which serves as a platform for companies to showcase their products.

The 22 Minnesota organizations at CES range in size from Fortune 500 corporations to smaller startups. Here are all the companies representing Minnesota at CES this year, with some descriptions provided by CES.

3M: "3M Medical Materials and Technologies helps healthcare manufacturers design and build more reliable, innovative and feature-rich medical devices." The company will be showcasing its medical adhesive tech, as well as Filtrete, a 3M brand that makes a filter to improve indoor air quality.

Bracketron: Bracketron creates mounting accessories for mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.

Canton Electronic Corporation: Canton is a German company with offices in Minnesota that produces sound systems.

Comply Foam Tips: Oakdale-based Hearing Components Inc. researches and develops sound products and tech for consumer electronics, military, law enforcement and more. The company will be exhibiting "Comply" its memory foam earphone tips.

Digi International: "Digi provides IoT connectivity solutions that deliver the relentless reliability and bullet-proof performance our customers require for demanding, mission-critical industry applications."

Element Electronics: Eden Prairie-based Element creates a variety of affordable electronic devices made in the U.S. ranging from monitors to televisions.

Get Wireless: GetWireless supplies tech for new IoT applications through embedded modules, end-device modems, asset trackers and intelligent gateways.

HabitAware: A Twin Cities startup that created Keen, a smart bracelet that uses gesture detection to build a user's awareness of unwanted, subconscious hand motions. Keen alerts the user in real-time so they can take control of compulsive behaviors such as hair pulling, nail biting, skin picking and others. HealthX LLC: A home health care services business located in Minneapolis.

Holor LLC: "Holor is a startup working on changing the realm of personal protection device industry. The main objective of the company is to create a device that would be easily accessible and operable by the user in dire situations such as assaults or health emergencies."

Honeywell International: "Honeywell’s connected technologies and solutions have been enabling individuals to live more efficiently, safely, comfortably and healthier at home for more than a century. We understand how complex systems work and help people continually manage and improve them, creating a seamless user experience."

iotobox: Provides services to develop niche IoT products.

MEM-CE LLC: "Based in Eden Prairie, MEM-CE, LLC (DBA Memorex-CE) is an international manufacturing, marketing, and brand management company."

Mindwatts: "Lojkly is an exciting platform of easy to use electronic cubes that teach foundational decision-making skills using logic gates and digital circuit design."

MultiTech: "MultiTech designs, develops and manufactures communications equipment for the industrial Internet of Things – connecting physical assets to business processes to deliver enhanced value."

NimbeLink: A venture-capital-backed startup that makes tiny modems that connect to cellular networks, allowing devices to be connected and monitored over the internet. NimbeLink raised $1.2M in equity financing in October, 2017.

Polaroid: "Polaroid is one of the most trusted, well-respected and recognizable brands in the world. It began 80 years ago with Polaroid instant film and cameras. Today, Polaroid continues to expand its range of products that deliver the quality and exceptional value for which the brand has long stood." The company will be exhibiting products in digital imaging/photography, as well as 3D printing.

Prevent Biometrics: "Prevent Biometrics has developed a head impact monitor that accurately detects potential concussion-causing impacts in real-time. Prevent’s product turns the observational method of identifying athletes for concussion assessment into an objective, data-driven process." The company closed on a $6 million round of financing for its concussion-detecting mouthguard in May, 2017.

SANUS/Chief/Da-Lite: "SANUS, Chief and Da-Lite, under Milestone AV Technologies, are leading designers and manufacturers of AV solutions including mounting solutions, projection screens, equipment racks and furniture. Milestone serves over 6,000 global customers with a headquarters just outside of Minneapolis."

Sleep Number: "As a pioneer in biometric sleep monitoring & adjustability, we are proving the connection between quality sleep & wellness." In previous years, the company has unveiled updates or additions to its beds like SleepIQ Kids, a "smart bed" for children that included a "monster detector" app.

UnitedHealthcare: "UnitedHealthcare serves key markets and geographic regions with a broad range of health benefit products and services for both consumers and benefit sponsors. We serve people in employer-sponsored health plans, those enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid, and those who purchase their own health plans."

Wellness USA Inc.: Develops "wellness technologies" like the Cocoon Pro, a portable sauna pod.
