RoverMed
- St. Cloud-based RoverMed, which developed tech for delivering nanotechnology for delivering drugs to diseased cells, raised $1 million in funding in late August. Local angel investor group Gopher Angels led the round. Firms from St. Louis and Grand Forks also participated.
CoreBiome
- CoreBiome raised $800,000 in a round led by Gopher Angels. The company assists researchers studying microbiomes, collections of microorganisms that live in shared environments like a patch or dirt or the human gut. CoreBiome was developed at the University of Minnesota, and is led by assistant professor and computational biologist, Dan Knights.
Celcuity
- Personalized medicine startup Celcuity filed to raise $15 million through an IPO. The Minneapolis-based company is developing technology that analyzes cancer patients' live tumor cells to determine which drug would treat them most effectively. Celcuity's CEO is Twin Cities serial entrepreneur Brian Sullivan, who previously led medical device company SterilMed, which he sold for $330 million in 2011.
ilos Video
- Tech startup ilos raised $1.5 million to expand its staff. The St. Paul-based company's tech allows businesses to quickly create and manage videos using a computer or mobile device. ilos has more than 200 customers, including UnitedHealth and 3M. The startup raised $1.5 million last year from Twin Cities-based Matchstick Ventures and two other firms.
Branch Messenger
- Techstars alum Branch Messenger closed a round of $6.8 million, which CEO Atif Siddiqi said will be used to ramp up hiring. Including funding the company landed in late last year, Branch has now raised a total of $10 million in capital. The startup creates software to help manage the schedules of hourly workers.
