WEEK 1: August 1-4  Tuesday, August 1 Event: Girl Develop it Toast and Tech Session

"Join the nerdettes of GDi at Canteen 3255 in Minneapolis on Tuesday night for their weekly study group. Toast and tech is a “heads-down” coding session for women learning to code and looking to connect with other women in the Twin Cities tech community."

"Bring your leashed pup to this (hopefully) sunny patio party benefitting no-kill/rehabilitation kitty and doggy center Animal Ark. Humans will enjoy food and drink specials, and there will be freebies from Bad Tags and Raw Bistro Pet Fare and other treats for your fur baby. Wednesday, August 2 Event: TC Hack Night

"Hosted the first Wednesday of every month, TC Hack night offers attendees pizza, craft beer and, of course, an opportunity to do some hacking. No speakers, no agenda. Just some quality coding time. The event is open to all skill levels."

Thursday, August 3 Event: Silicon North Stars Demo Day

"Come join us for the first-ever Silicon North Stars Minnesota Demo Day! You'll get to hear 16 extraordinary ninth-graders pitch their startup ideas on how to solve a pressing social problem affecting their lives. This event will come just after the students have returned from an immersive week-long summer technology camp in Silicon Valley, where the students visit top tech companies and startups, learning about the Valley and future careers in the innovation economy."

Thursday, August 24 Event: MN Cup Food/Ag/Bev Division Pitch Slam 

  • Location: Minneapolis Event Center, 212 2nd St. SE, Minneapolis
  • Date/time: Thursday, August 27, 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
  • Event type: Pitch event
  • Price: Free

"The Pitch Slam will include sampling from several MN entrepreneurs and presentations from this year's food/ag/beverage Division semifinalists. The event provides each semifinalist with an opportunity to share 1) the inspiration for their idea, 2) where they are today and 3) plans for the future. After all 10 presentations, the audience will vote for their favorite and they will receive $500!"
