Minne Inno Approved: July's Top Tech Events in the Twin Cities

Hey, readers. We’re trying something different this month for events. In addition to including community goings-on in The Beat each day, we will keep track of them here on our new curated calendar, Minne Inno Approved. We will be updating this calendar each week, and as additional events pop up on our radar. Keep updated and check in often. And reach out if there’s a certain type of event you want to see on this calendar.

WEEK 1: July 3-7

Wednesday, July 5 TC Hack Night: Hosted the first Wednesday of every month, TC Hack night offers attendees pizza, craft beer and, of course, an opportunity to do some hacking. No speakers, no agenda. Just some quality coding time. The event is free and open to all skill levels. Details here.

Twin Cities Maker Meetup: Meet at the Hack Factory in Minneapolis to network with fellow makers and hackers. TC Makers build projects using various media and materials, from wood and metal to electronics and fabrics. The event is free and open to all. Learn more here.

Thursday, July 6 Hacker Happy Hour: Join Hackers & Founders Minneapolis at Sisyphus Brewing for a laid-back networking happy hour. Attendees pay for their own beverages, but the event is free. RSVP here.

Girl Develop It Monthly Meetup: Join the nerdettes of GDI for their monthly meetup at Buzzfeed’s office in Northeast Minneapolis. Following the standard meetup format, GDI’s monthly gathering offers women the chance to meet, network and listen to speakers from their field. GDI offers affordable, judgement-free opportunities for adult women to learn web and software development. RSVP here.

WEEK 2: July 10-14

Monday, July 10 Healthcare.MN Happy Hour: Meet and mingle with members of the Twin Cities healthcare community at Zipnosis in Minneapolis. RSVP here.

Tuesday, July 11 Women Who Speak: A new group from Women Who Code, Women Who Speak is a series where women in tech can improve their public speaking, and help other members practice. There’s no scores, no timers, and is much more informal than Toastmasters. Register here.

Thursday, July 13 Minnedemo: Join the tech community at the Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis for Minnedemo, a beloved Twin Cities tech tradition and one of the most popular events of the summer. At this “geek show and tell,” developers are given seven minutes to showcase their projects. There’s also food, drinks and networking throughout. The event is free, and tickets are distributed online in three batches. During the first round, all 400 available tickets were scooped up in seven minutes. The second round followed a similar pattern. The final batch is available Tuesday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. Get your tickets here.

July Wine Down: Wine Down is a monthly event hosted by Impact Hub. Attendees are encouraged to BYOB and connect with members of the community committed to creating change and making social impact. Come early for coworking, stay for happy hour. The event is free and open to all. RSVP here.
