As the first half of the year comes to a close, Tampa Bay tech companies aren't letting the continuous coronavirus pandemic slow them from moving forward.

Local companies not only continued to fill C-level and executive spots, but drew in talent from across the nation. From Nielsen to IBM, Tegna to DXC, we've got the rundown of who moved where in June.

• Nickelytics, the marketing tech startup that you most likely know for leaving Italy while in a TechStars accelerator, will now be bringing a piece of that experience with them to Tampa. Anthony DeRico, a former sales director of the North American branch for Techstars, will be joining Nickelytics as its new head of sales. DeRico has also worked for Nielsen and New York City-based startup Skift.

Moffitt Cancer Center has taken its innovation involvement one step further with its latest hire. Elizabeth Lindsay-Wood has been hired as vice president and chief information officer for Moffitt. Her role will be leading the hospital system’s information technology teams and oversee the company’s cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and “accelerate a digital transformation.”

• Cybersecurity and compliance firm A-LIGN has hired a new CFO with IBM ties. Michael Branca will serve in the role, after working in similar positions for over 20 years. He's overseen the acquisition of 35 companies and four of the six companies he worked for have now exited, totaling $1.6B.

Spectrio, the Tampa-based tech-enabled end-to-end marketing company, has hired a new senior vice president of technology. Daniel Babb is stepping up to the spot, after moving from Dallas where he served as the COO of a presence management company called Advice Local. He previously was a vice president of technology at TEGNA.

BlockSpaces, the local blockchain-focused organization, has hired a handful of new C-levels with big tech ties. Charles Dyer, previously with DXC, will be taking over the role of chief operating officer. Chris Tyler, who previously worked at IBM, will be the new chief technology officer. The organization is also adding Gregory Pierce, who also worked at DXC, as operating chairman of its board.

Captain's Chair, a local software company for the IT industry, has hired its first ever CEO. Skip Smith will step up to the role, after the company spun off of Concertium, a Tampa-based IT managed services provider. The company originally had Pratik Roychoudhury as the acting CEO. Smith previously served as a managing partner for Fort Myers-based Valorem Partners.
