It's that time again — while March Bracket Tournament may be starting up, in Tampa Bay we're a bit more focused on tech.
We're kicking off Tech Madness, a reader-driven bracket competition that highlights some of the local tech scene's biggest, fastest-growing and most funded startups in the region.
Over the next few weeks, 32 Tampa Bay tech companies will face off, with readers voting to determine who will move on to the next round.
We seeded the companies based on venture capital funding and other growth metrics. We rely on venture funding because it's the most accessible and universal metric available.
All startups on the list are private, venture-backed and tech-enabled. And to determine the outcome of each matchup, we left readers with one question: Who would you invest in?
We're leaving it random on purpose that can be answered in a number of different metrics. Is it the startup that's the safest bet? Supporting a really great cause? Has a huge amount of recent funding? That's up to you.
We know Tampa Bay residents are all about lifting each other up, so keep in mind this is not a "versus" thing. A vote for a company is not a vote against the other; Tech Madness is a friendly competition.
