The second quarter of the year closed out on a solid note, with Tampa Bay companies making major moves from acquisition deals to launching from stealth mode. We’ve got the deals you may have missed below.
Acquisitions
- Tampa-based ReliaQuest has upped its portfolio with a $160M purchase. The cybersecurity company that hit unicorn status last year is in the final stages of buying San Francisco-based Digital Shadows, which is also in the cyber sector. Beyond technology, the acquisition would add roughly 175 employees to ReliaQuest’s lineup. The Business Journal’s got the story.

- Tampa-based Symphonic Distribution has entered into a strategic merger with a Canadian company Higher Reign Music Distribution. The HRMD executives will oversee Symphonic’s operations in Canada, leading the business and building its team. The Business Journal’s got the story.

- Tampa-based Constellation4Health, a healthtech firm founded by two Tampa tech pillars, acquired Vulcan Health for an undisclosed amount. It also closed its pre-seed round for an undisclosed amount. It’s the first of what it expects to be several acquisitions in the coming months. You can get all the details here.

- Lakeland-based DSM, an IT provider to government agencies, was acquired by Massachusetts-based Thrive for an undisclosed amount. The new partnership will allow DSM customers to access Thrive’s managed services like cybersecurity and cloud capabilities.
- Tampa-based consulting firm MGT acquired Atlanta tech company Layer 3 Communications for an undisclosed amount. Both are IT solutions providers.
Moves
- Chicago-based CoinFlip announced it will move into an 8,000-square-foot office space in Sparkman Wharf in Tampa. It has big plans on deck, including creating 40 jobs in its first year and opening a “Crypto Experience Center,” which it says will be the first of its kind in the U.S. Get the story.

- Wisconsin-based medtech solutions provider DeliverHealth is moving its headquarters to town. The company will be moving its headquarters and “customer experience center” to a 10,000-square-foot space in Clearwater. The company cited the region’s rising tech status as a primary factor for the relocation and said it will have at least two dozen jobs in the new space. The Business Journal’s got the story.

- Two tech-focused labs have opened at the former University Mall, adding to an ever-growing portfolio of innovative offerings in Tampa’s Uptown district. LT3 Labs, which focuses on providing infrastructure for workforce development, opened last week. And AMRoC Fab Lab, which offers everything from maker spaces to robotics courses, will reopen this week. Check out the new spaces and their hopeful impact here.
Hirings and launches
- St. Petersburg-based 3D Cloud by Marxent hired Anis Hadj Taieb as its new chief revenue officer. He joins the 3D e-commerce company after working at California-based DemandTech and executive positions at Oracle and GreyOrange.
CyberFOX
- Two Tampa tech execs — including ConnectWise’s co-founder David Bellini — have launched a new Tampa tech company focused on managed service providers. CyberFOX is an umbrella of two existing tech companies that Bellini and co-founder Adam Slutskin acquired. The company has roughly 50 employees, with about 70% located in Tampa Bay.
