Base wants to use technology to foster authentic relationships and connections in the modern world.
Now it's one step closer to meeting that goal. The Miami startup secured a $500,000 pre-seed funding round to build a platform that uses matching technology to bring members together. It analyzes a variety of factors to make those matches, including career background, interests and personality information.

That helps bring people together who might not otherwise meet, especially in an era where many professional and social interactions are moving to the web.
"Our world has become increasingly distributed, making the formation of friendships and communities more challenging," said Base co-founder Kaben Clauson.
Ricardo Vázquez and Natalia Martinez-Kalinina, who has a background in organizational psychology, are also co-founders of the firm.
The pre-seed funding round was led by Treble Ventures, Vast Ventures and Dhuna Ventures with participation from individual angel investors.
Base partners with venues in different U.S. cities to create curated experiences for members. It hosted its first matched dinner in Miami in April and plans to expand to a second city in the near-future. The company currently has waitlists open for Miami, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., London and more.
"As we advance further into the age of technology and remote work, we often find ourselves becoming more isolated," co-founder Martinez-Kalinina said. "Base seeks to solve this problem by merging innovation and entrepreneurship with the aim of creating lasting community impact."
