Seattle-based health care tech startup DexCare has named Rick Pittenger the company's chief technology officer.
The move comes less than a month after DexCare acquired Womp, a Bellingham-based company that helps health care companies improve their online experience. Pittenger was previously the CTO of Stockholm-based Cint, which offers tools for market research and measuring the success of advertising campaigns.
“Rick’s proven success in leading teams that built sophisticated systems utilizing modern software development practices needed to achieve scale will allow DexCare to continue growing and innovating,” Derek Streat, CEO and co-founder of DexCare, said in a release. “We can’t wait to see that expertise materialize as he helps us reimagine the care experience.”
A DexCare spokesperson said Pittenger is the company's first CTO. Pittenger came to Cint by way of Lucid, which Cint acquired for about $1.1 billion in December of 2021. He was also the CTO of Lucid, where he spent more than three years, according to his LinkedIn page, and he stayed on as the CTO of Cint for about a year before joining DexCare. Pittenger has been working in the tech field since 1996.
DexCare spun out of Providence in March 2021 with a $21 million Series A round. The company also raised a $50 million Series B round in January of this year. DexCare helps health care companies make appointments easier to find for patients by putting appointments on mediums like Google and Bing. Consumers can also find the best care options to fit their needs. DexCare's clients include Kaiser and Mass General Brigham.
With Womp, DexCare gained access to Womp's tech that helps health care companies improve the speed of their websites and offer a health care site search tool. At the time of the Womp acquisition, a DexCare spokesperson said DexCare had more than 100 employees before the acquisition.
“The energy at DexCare is palpable,” Pittenger said in a release. “I’m eager to apply my knowledge in consumer and digital growth marketing in this new role.”
