Seattle-based health care tech startup DexCare has acquired Womp, a Bellingham-based company that helps health care companies with their online experience.

The companies announced the acquisition Thursday but aren't disclosing the financial terms of the deal. A DexCare spokesperson said Womp has more than 20 employees, all of whom are joining DexCare through the acquisition. The spokesperson added DexCare had more than 100 employees before the acquisition.

"Online scheduling isn’t enough anymore. Health systems face intense competition, evolving consumer expectations and limited resources that require comprehensive, highly performant digital discovery solutions," Derek Streat, co-founder and CEO of DexCare, said in a release. “Womp is providing an essential element to this vision — a powerful storefront for health care.”

Womp's employees won't have to relocate, the spokesperson said, and Womp's brands, WompHealth and WompMobile, will operate as independent subsidiaries of DexCare.

Womp and its WompHealth brand help health care companies improve the speed of their websites, and the company helps providers put scheduling functions on highly searched pages consumers find through Google. WompHealth also provides a health care site search tool. WompMobile, meanwhile, helps companies convert complex websites into digestible mobile websites. WompMobile's clients include AT&T and Providence.

DexCare spun out of Providence in March 2021, when it raised a $21 million Series A round. The company followed that with a $50 million Series B round in January. DexCare works with health systems to make appointments easier to find on search engines like Google and Bing. The company also helps consumers find the best health care options based on their needs. DexCare has more than a dozen open positions listed on its website.

"By uniting forces, DexCare is the response to transformation and brings to market the proven methods of e-commerce to unlock a digital storefront that captures, nurtures and delivers access to health care,” Madison Miner, CEO of Womp, said in a release.
