Companies have found a variety of ways of dealing with waste.

But a relative newcomer wants to make it easier for firms, particularly those in the delivery and hospital business, to dispose of their junk. San Francisco-based Trash Warrior provides a website that lets users find local cardboard and junk removal services, offering transparent pricing and on-demand service.

Legally known as Hakuna Services Inc., the startup enables its customers to easily rent dumpsters and remove cardboard and junk from their facilities.

The company recently raised $8 million in seed funding from San Francisco-based Altair Capital, which has also invested in plant-based egg producer Eat Just Inc. Trash Warrior had previously raised a $1.2 million pre-seed round in May of 2020, roughly a year after its founding, according to WasteDive. Trash Warrior was founded by Lily Danqi Shen, who was previously a product manager at Niantic Inc., the maker of the mobile game Pokemon Go.
