Two Houston-based oil and natural gas companies — Grit Oil and Gas Management and Burlington Resources Oil and Gas — were among the three most active companies for new drilling permit applications with the Texas Railroad Commission.
Grit Oil and Gas Management filed for horizontal drill permits for two new oil or gas wells in Maverick County located 31.1 miles southeast of Eagle Pass, one with a completion depth of 3,546 feet and the other with a completion depth of 3,250 feet. Grit also filed for permits to drill seven new horizontal oil wells in Dimmit County — the most active county in the past week — 17.3 miles southwest of the nearest town of Carrizo Springs. They will have completion depths of 3,442 feet.
Burlington Resources Oil and Gas filed for permission to horizontally drill four new oil and gas wells in Live Oak County about 10 miles northwest of Three Rivers in the Eagle Ford Shale. Each is projected to have a completion depth of 17,500 feet. The company also filed to drill five new wells in Dimmit County 8.3 miles southwest of nearby Westhoff with completion depths of 17,000 feet.
