South Texas Drilling Roundup: GulfTex Energy plans for two new McMullen County wells

The South Texas Drilling Roundup is a weekly review of drilling permit applications filed with the Railroad Commission of Texas over a 67-county area of South Texas.

Houston-based oil and natural gas exploration company EP Energy E&P Company LP has filed eight applications with the Texas Railroad Commission for new horizontal drills of oil or gas wells. All eight wells will be located in La Salle County. The site of four of the proposed wells will be in the Eagle Ford Shale 2.8 miles northeast of Cotulla, with these four slated to have a total depth of 8,999 feet. The other four, also in La Salle County, will be located 10.4 miles southeast of Cotulla and will have individual completion depths of 10,000 feet each.

With these 8 filings, La Salle County saw the highest number of applications in the past week.

San Antonio-based oil and natural gas exploration company GulfTex Energy also filed applications for two new horizontal drills of oil or gas wells located 13.5 miles northwest of the nearest town of Tilden in McMullen County. Both wells will have completion depths of 10,000 feet.
