Office Envy: Inside eMoney's New Digs in Providence

Step into the cafeteria-lounge in eMoney's new space downtown, and you'll be witness to Lizzy $our's latest work: A full-wall mural, eMoney's logo front and center, with the slogan—"helping people talk about money"—slyly embedded among Keith Haring-like illustrations. Lizzy $our is the artist name of Elizabeth Jweinat, a freshman at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. eMoney commissioned her for the project.

The artwork is just one of many local touches in eMoney's Providence space. Around the office, different gathering spaces are named after the city's neighborhoods, said John Love, vice president of corporate real estate. The office was designed by Providence-based firm Vision 3 Architects. It occupies the entire sixth floor of 100 Westminster St.

In Providence, employees don’t have their own individual desks. Instead, each desk is a “flex desk,” open to whomever happens to come into the office that day. Many people work remotely, or they work from the office just a couple days a week. Lockers are available for folks to store their belongings.

"Our whole approach throughout the office with the design was to be flexible," Love said. "It had to work for any type of employee. One of the themes is almost everything here can be reconfigured by the employees themselves."

Although eMoney has been around since 2001, the company made sure to include some youthful touches here: Connect Four, paddleball, and even video games are in the lounge for employees to blow off steam.

Here are some photos I took during my tour.
