The chef-made delivery food startup Feast & Fettle moved into a new home in March in order to accommodate growth the company has been experiencing.

Located at 881 Waterman Ave. in East Providence, the building, which also serves as Feast & Fettle’s official headquarters, boasts 3,000 square feet of new space, about three-quarters of which is for production and the rest for corporate use.

The kitchen features new equipment including ovens, ranges, griddles, grills, mixers, a huge 16-foot hood and a massive walk-in fridge and freezer — everything the company needs to produce meals for hundreds of families. The space also has an overhead garage door for its drivers to load up deliveries.

“Our management team was working out of my home and coffee shops across the state,” CEO Carlos Ventura told Rhode Island Inno. “We wanted to build a space that not only could support future production, but also an office where we could collaborate, innovate and make changes in a much more nimble fashion.”

Ventura said he was able to spruce up the “pretty basic” office for staff with some fancy wooden desks he was able to find on Craigslist. There is also a nice lounge area for Feast & Fettle’s staff, where Ventura said the company splurged on one absolutely necessary item: The Breville espresso machine.

Born out of the Rhode Island-based kitchen incubator Hope & Main, Feast and Fettle is a delivery service that offers a combination of entrees and sides for families to order in advance, and which strives to accommodate a range of different diets.

Menus become available Saturday morning for delivery the following week and orders must be placed by Thursday at noon to ensure sufficient prep time. Meals are then prepared from scratch one day prior to delivery, and then delivered to homes on Mondays and Wednesdays cold in a Feast & Fettle insulated bag.

After two years of explosive growth — capacity has increased at least four times to what Feast & Fettle was doing at Hope & Main — Ventura said the company could no longer accommodate demand.

More importantly, the new location has proximity to all major highways, allowing Feast & Fettle drivers to access more of Massachusetts while still being able to serve the entire state of Rhode Island.

Ventura said the company has already added several staff and will continue to do so as the business expands.

Editor's Note: Feast & Fettle was a Rhode Island Inno 2019 Startups to Watch.
