We at Rhode Island Inno have established a curated calendar of statewide goings-on we think readers will enjoy — all in one spot. They range from networking events to innovation showcases. Look for new events every month, and don’t hesitate to let us know if there’s more (or less) of a type of event you’d like to hear about.

Wednesday, May 4

Blue Tech Innovation Series at Innovate Newport feat. Jaia Robotics: The BlueTech Innovation Series brings together Rhode Island’s leading startup companies focused on “blue” technologies to network and showcase their cutting-edge technologies. Starts at 4 p.m. at Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway, Newport, RI. More information here. One blue tech startup featured per session/week, including:

Thursday, May 5

RIBC Awards Ceremony: Join the Rhode Island Business Competition at their Awards Ceremony where they announce the winner and two finalists. Cash and prizes will total over $150,000. This will be an exciting night where we honor those businesses in person for the first time since Covid. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 5th starting at 5 pm and will be hosted at the Venture Cafe Providence Thursday Gathering. Complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks from Bayberry Garden will be provided by Rhode Island Business Competition. Starts at 5 p.m. at Venture Café Providence, 225 Dyer Street, Providence, RI. BlueTech Innovation Series: In an effort to support the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region, The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Innovate Newport to offer a 6-session BlueTech Innovation Series. This week features KINETIX, an advanced platform that specifically designed to help coaches, athletes and teams to have an effective video and data based performance improvement process. May Networking at Hucks Filling Station: Bring some colleagues, friends, or come alone. Hucks was once an old service station, now transformed into a prospering Greenwich Bay restaurant. Naval Undersea Warfare Center & University of RI Technology Showcase: Learn about available Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Division Newport technology commercialization and patent licensing opportunities, along with URI R&D capabilities and intellectual property at this showcase cooperatively presented by NUWC Newport, University of Rhode Island Research Foundation, and 401 Tech Bridge. Promoting the utilization and commercialization of inventions, the showcase included technology presentations from the NUWC Newport inventors and URI professors with an opportunity for companies to ask questions and engage one-on-one with the inventors. Free Company CoWorking Day: Free to work for the day from 9am to 5pm! Invite your company's team members and remote workers (Teams of 1 are also welcome) to gather for a fun day working on-site together. Typically $20/day pass per person waived for Friday May 20. Sprout's Spring Open House will include a catered lunch and company photo taken by commercial portrait photographer Glenn Turner.
