Two more Rhode Island companies are the recipients of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation's Innovation Vouchers.
Woonsocket-based American Cord & Webbing and Providence-based Pilgrim Screw Corporation received grants worth $50,000 and $49,556, respectively.
American Cord & Webbing will use the funds "to improve upon quick release, combat readiness, and fire-retardant features of the company’s molded plastic buckle assemblies."
Meanwhile, Pilgrim Screw Corporation — one of the leading manufacturers of screws on the planet — will use the funding to "embed information in an existing screw product line" in a continuation of its work with the University of Rhode Island.
The Innovation Voucher program was created three years ago in an effort to increase research and development work in the Ocean State. Participating companies use the money, which is capped at $50,000, to fund research and development work with a Rhode Island research facility, university or medical center.
In addition to these two Innovation Vouchers, Rhode Island Virtual Reality received an $85,000 Industry Cluster grant.
RIVR is "a nonprofit initiative dedicated to cultivating a virtual reality and augmented reality industry cluster in Rhode Island," and the Industry Cluster grant will help foster its work.
