Vancouver-based ZoomInfo Technologies (Nasdaq: ZI) hired its first chief security officer, who will oversee both physical and digital security for the business intelligence software maker.
Tomer Gershoni, a security industry vet, was named to the role. His career includes time as chief information security officer and head of cyber defense for the Israel National Cyber Directorate, a government organization that protects companies and people from cyber attacks.
He was most recently senior director and head of Security Engineering and Cyber Defense Center for data security company Imperva.
“As a security- and privacy-first company, there’s no cutting corners when it comes to protecting ZoomInfo’s data assets,” said ZoomInfo CEO Henry Schuck in a written statement. “With invaluable cybersecurity experience, Tomer will lead ZoomInfo and its digital entities into a safer and more secure future.”
Gershoni will work closely with Simon McDougall, the company’s chief compliance officer, who was hired earlier this year. McDougall is also a former government official, having overseen the U.K’s independent authority that upholds information rights and promotes openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.
According to the company, Gershoni, McDougall and the ZoomInfo privacy team will “ensure the limited, non-sensitive data the company collects and stores remains protected.”
Gershoni will also work with customers on best practices for accessing and processing ZoomInfo data.
“Our customers rely on ZoomInfo’s dedication to being on top of the latest cyber security practices when it comes to protecting the data within our platform,” Gershoni said in a written statement. “It’s up to us to stay a step ahead of emerging threats while building trust with our customers.”
