Smarsh, one of Portland's most prominent, fast-growing tech firms, is laying off staff, according to a report in the Oregonian.

The newspaper, citing a company statement, reported that an unspecified number of jobs would be cut at the firm through reorganization following a period of growth that included acquisitions.

Smarsh, which provides digital archiving services, announced in May that it would acquire mobile messaging and voice capture technology provider TeleMessage for undisclosed terms. In November 2021 it acquired the Digital Safe archiving and risk management portfolio of Micro Focus (NYSE: MFGP) for $375 million.

The company recently named a new CEO, Kim Crawford Goodman, who formerly head of payments and risk solutions for Fivserv Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV). She replaces Brian Cramer, who moved to the company's board of directors.

Smarsh provides cloud-based capture, archiving and monitoring solutions to companies. It has about 970 employees, with about 240 based in its Portland headquarters. It was fourth on the Business Journal's list of largest software development firms in Oregon and southwest Washington, based on number of employees.
