Digital archiving firm Smarsh named finance and tech industry vet Kim Crawford Goodman CEO.
She succeeds Brian Cramer, who has led the company since 2018. Cramer is moving to the company’s board of directors.
Goodman is the third CEO for the 21-year-old company. She is the first woman to lead the company. She is the first person of color to lead the company.
Goodman was most recently head of payments and risk solutions at fintech giant Fiserv Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV). Before that she was CEO of Worldpay US and was president of global business travel and merchant services Americas for American Express.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead the Smarsh team,” Goodman said in a written statement. “Organizations face a volatile regulatory landscape and the real challenges of supervising work from home as employees use many more digital channels. The Smarsh team has shown extraordinary vision and leadership in helping protect many of the largest global financial firms and government agencies from regulatory and reputational risk.”

The company was founded in 2001 by Chairman Steve Marsh and has consistently been a fast-growing company. This growth has been organic and through acquisitions.
“With the unprecedented demand for our cloud-native, AI-enabled solutions and our team’s strong execution, we are confident that Smarsh is well-positioned for its increased global growth and look forward to drawing upon Kim’s proven track record for success with top brands in financials services and technology,” said Marsh in a written statement.
Cramer joined the company in 2016 as chief operating officer and took over the CEO role from Marsh in 2018. Cramer led the company through several high-profile acquisitions including Actiance, which doubled the size of Smarsh. Other deals include acquiring Digital Reasoning, Digital Safe and TeleMessage.
